Thankgiving Decor – decorating with Pumpkins

Decorating on a budget might not be easy but it is possible. And if you execute it with taste and care it will look as special and maybe even more than expensive showcases. One idea for your Thanksgiving decor is using pumpkins for your flower arrangements. All you need to do is clean the insides of the pumpkin and fill it with your favorite season flowers.
Want even better idea? How about “silver plating” your pumpkin? You can simply use a silver spray paint and to make it look even better sponge a bit of a different tone silver or gold paint. I will look gorgeous. You can also add some small pumpking using them as candle holders.
Using decoupage or painting your pumpkin using stencils could add even more interest to your table centerpiece. My personal favorite is the damask decoupage pumpkin. It looks so stylish and is pretty easy to create. You will need:

  • One white pumpkin ( or just spray paint one, I usually paint it anyway for a more consistent color. It might take you a few coats of paint to get a consistent white finish)
  • Matte or gloss finish Mod Podge, – whichever you prefer
  • Damask patterned paper. You can buy tissue paper in this pattern or create your pwn by getting a piece of your favorite damask fabric to scan and print at the size to suit the scale you prefer, or you can also find damask pattern on-line and print it. To print, find the thinnest printing paper, which is usually the cheapest as well.
  • You will also need the usual supplies such as the schossors, the brush, the glue, etc
  • Spray paint the pumptkin, let it dry, then cover the entire pumpkin with Mod Podge, painting it over
  • Cut damask paper in stripes and start applying it all around your pumpkin. To make it easier the first time around, just cut out damask design and apply it all by itself. It will look absolutely stunning on white background. You can always sponge over some gold or silver paint (diluted with glaze) to give it some sparkle.

Using natural items for your table decor adds unpretentious charm and will sure make your guests admire your creativity.
